Today we take you behind the scenes and give you some insight into how we photograph engagement rings at weddings.
Photographing your engagement ring is just one of the many details we will capture throughout the day and typically it is one of the first things we photograph after arriving where the bride is getting ready.
The first thing we do it look for the best light and is usually a well lit room without direct sunlight.
Rings work well on reflective surfaces and we will look for something suitable in the room otherwise, like in the photograph below, we have used the reflective surface of an iPad.
The other part of this image are the white circles in the background and on the reflected surface. These are sometimes called 'circles of confusion' and have been created using a cushion in the room. You will see from the image below a cushion behind the bouquet of flowers. You can see it has sequins embroidered on it and sparkle when the light hits them. Using a macro lens the focus is on the ring throwing out the background.
