Photographing sports action requires an understanding (and love) of the sport, being able to anticipate the action, choosing the correct lens and camera settings to ensure your images are sharp and well composed, an understanding of light and how it is impacting on your subject, editing skills and a lot of patience.

Our 1-1 mentoring workshops will give you an opportunity to use our professional equipment under expert guidance.  Our sessions will be targeted to your individual skill level and what you are hoping to achieve.  No question is out of bounds - we are here to share our years of experience with you. 

I began my photography career as a sports photographer some 20 years ago. My two boys played all sorts of sports but predominantly Baseball, AFL football and Hockey. Lucky for me I too loved sport and found myself volunteering as a coach, scorer, team manager, and committee member.  When not involved in these activities I would stand on the side lines and try to capture them in action.

It didn't take long before I was frustrated with the images I was taking.  I knew what I wanted to achieve but just couldn't replicate the images of the professional sports photographers I followed.  After many hours shooting, investing in professional equipment and training, I established my first photography business - Frozen Action Photography.

Under this brand I photographed a wide range of sports and recreational activities from juniors through to seniors and at all levels of ability.

• mentoring includes but is not limited to - understanding the equipment, camera settings, tracking moving subjects, anticipating the action, use of light
